Matt Wisler: A Story of Perseverance

Matt Wisler: A Story of Perseverance

At 27 years old, Matt Wisler already has enough experiences for a lifetime.

The current member of the Minnesota Twins was a 7
th round pick out of high school in Bryan, Ohio in 2011 – quickly becoming one of the best 50 prospects in Major League Baseball.

The Padres, the team that originally selected him, traded him to Atlanta in 2015, where he made his big-league debut.

If his story had ended there, it would’ve already been the stuff of dreams. However, his journey through professional baseball had a lot more chapters in store.

A trade to Cincinnati in 2018. A return to San Diego in early 2019. A move to Seattle later that summer.

All in all he’s played 129 games in the Majors – 57 of them as a starter – racking up 19 wins and 304 strikeouts in 389.1 innings.

Late last year he was claimed by Minnesota, where he’ll try to secure a spot in the bullpen of the best team in the American League Central.

Matt’s been chomping at the bit to prove himself all over again, and trusts Gymwrap to aid him in his journey. How can you not root for him?
