It's finally June and that means Men's Health Month is here!
This month's focus is encouraging all of the men in your life to take care of their bodies by eating right, exercising, and working to prevent disease. Here at Gymwrap we want to heighten the awareness of preventable health problems and encourage early detection and treatment of diseases including cancer, heart disease, and depression. #GymwrapMen, are you on a journey to better health? Here are some tips for that journey, for the men who want to protect their health and the women who want to encourage them:
- Make prevention a priority: Many health conditions can be prevented or detected early and regular screenings can save your life. Screen for blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose, prostate health and more. Be aware the heart disease is the leading cause of death in men.
- Be physically active: Physical activity has a huge amount of benefits, including weight control, boosts mental health, reduces risk of heart disease and some cancers, and more. So get moving!
- Eat heart healthy: Try to include a variety of fruits and vegetables in your diet daily. The vitamins and minerals they contain may help protect you from chronic diseases. Other foods that are heart healthy are fish, lean meats, eggs and nuts. It's never too late to improve your diet!
During Men's Health Month, it is so important to acknowledge that men's health issues are often stigmatized or overlooked, and most men are reluctant to seek help for mental health conditions or are unaware of the important signs and symptoms of certain illnesses. But NOT here at Gymwrap, we know by raising awareness and promoting more education about men's health, we can help to break down these walls and encourage men to take charge of their health!
