Juneteenth

Juneteenth

Juneteenth is an annual celebration that commemorates and celebrates the end of slavery in the United States.

In 1863, president Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation to free slaves. However, it still took an additional two years for Union soldiers to deliver news to Texas on June, 19th of 1865 that the war had ended and that the slaves were now free.

Juneteenth is a highly symbolic date for us as a nation and those who continue to fight for equality and social justice today. This date symbolizes the promise of fairness and equality given to African Americans by the United States. Additionally, it resulted from a long-fought, bloody war where many black and white allied people sacrificed their lives for freedom.

As a Black business owner, I am forever grateful for the doors that have been held open by those who came before me. Let us continue to celebrate every moment in history, big & small that has moved us closer to the freedom and joy we all deserve.

We have new Gymwrap styles now available to honor this historic day. You can check them out here.

Love, Nicole ❤
